Evaluation Notes

Monday 9th March 2015:

We discussed our company name "Nightmare Productions" with our teacher but after speaking with her we discussed that our company will specialise in horror and thriller films and T.V. We are aware of the connotations around "Nightmare".

Tuesday 10th March 2015:

When completing the animatronic we realised our opening was longer than the time allowed so after discussing we decided to change our storyboard.

Tuesday 17th March 2015:

Tuesday 24th March 2015:

During our lesson we had technical issues with our editing - The college's apple mac couldn't identify our film and footage and with help from a technician we were able to save our footage but lost all our editing.

Editing our Film

We have edited some of out footage for the opening of our film, Night Runner. In our group we decided to experiment in out editing by adding a variety of different audio and visual effects which I researched and gathered from Royal Free websites. We firstly tried increasing the volume and changing the sound tone on Final Cut Pro in specific scenes to try and increase the tension which would create suspense to later hook the audience.
We then varied the colour shades on the footage as we wanted the lighting to be dark to create an atmosphere, we changed the contrast to get away from the natural lighting. Then by adding the chosen music it allowed us to see what worked well and what didn’t. From this it was clear to see that we needed more footage as the quality was poor.

Nightmare Productions Ident

Me and Molly took charge in creating our companies Ident, we decided to create a lightening theme to match our companies logo. This is effective as it attracts the audience into our companies theme of horror film producing.

Night Runner - asking others.

When pitching our idea to out subject teacher, she raised her opinion of our film title, "Night Runner" and said to ask our audience how they feel towards our name and these were our results.

Production Schedule

Molly has completed our Production Schedule:

We believe it is important that all pre-production documents are completed as soon as possible and that all actors are casting, this is because they will get chance to read our script and also that we can order all costumes, props ect!

We have given ourselves over a month to complete our filming due to members of out groups being absence and also gives us plenty of time to get all shots completed and if re filming needs to happen we are able to.

For editing we have given ourselves 10 days and in this time this will allow us to create our film and edit our shots together.

Treatment

I was in charge of creating our Treatment

Production Logo

I was in charge of creating our companies logo

We chose nightmare productions because as a group we felt that our opening/films would connote feelings of intense fear and horror on the audience. Also a nightmare is an event/experience that is intensely distressing which as a horror company this is what we hope our films will show.

Draft Script

Liam has been in charge of creating our final script.

Location Recce

I have been in charge of creating the location recce for our opening.

Planning Opening Sequence

Initial Idea:
*get photo from molly*

When me and my partners first started our planning we decided to create a horror which was set in an abandoned mental asylum but we also were planning on casting a child actor to play the part of our main character. However we soon realised the risks that would become noticeable, we also would have to get filming permission from the land owners which would cause problems due to the safety in the asylums. Due to our problems we had to re think our idea and re-do our final idea.

Final Idea:

With our final idea, we decided to change our idea and create a opening that would show enigma codes throughout, with the audience not knowing who was the 'bad guy' and who was the victim. We stuck with the idea of a child lead role and the mental asylum idea however we don't show the asylum so costumes and props will enhance our idea.
